Hypnosis

Hypnose Douce Maisons

What is hypnosis?

The state of hypnosis is a focus of attention, in which we distract, bypass our conscious part which is there to criticize, analyze, want something, etc.

The point is to reach another part of us (sometimes called the unconscious part) where all our experiences, feelings, habits, possibilities, learnings, and so on, inhabit.

As a practitioner in hypnosis, I guide you into this state using specific techniques. Reaching an hypnotic state is done in collaboration. Everyone can be in such a state, It just takes to find the proper way for you.

How does hypnosis work in practice?

Once in this state, you can access an imaginative an emotional part, which contains your learnings and experiences.

The aim is twofold:

  • to open to new possibilities and perspectives, a bit like nourishing and enriching the soil in a garden to encourage the growth of plants;
  • to release what prevents you from changing, what holds you back.

What are the benefits of hypnosis?

The benefits of hypnosis are in two directions:

  • change, well-being, self-confidence, self-esteem, happiness, calm, energy, weight loss, smoking cessation, distance, positive dynamics, better sleep, etc.
  • relief from pain (migraine, tinnitus, etc) or emotional or behavioural release (letting go, less stress, less depression, less anxiety and anguish, less insomnia, less snacking, etc)

Which specificity for children ?

Children are naturally in the state of hypnosis. Techniques are therefore lighter. We use the child’s imaginative abilities (games, drawings, stories, etc) to guide and find ways forward.

Is remote hypnosis possible?

To enter a state of hypnosis, all you have to do is to listen to the instructions and agree to let yourself go and follow them. As long as you can hear the person speaking, you can do it from a distance without any problem.

To do it online, you’ll need:

  • a sufficiently stable internet connection;
  • a computer or mobile phone;
  • headphones ideally, but not necessarily;
  • a comfortable place to sit, where you can rest your head;
  • a place to put your computer or phone and where I can see your chest;
  • curiosity and openness to discover what will happen.

What are the contraindications to hypnosis?

People with schizophrenic disorders, as it may increase the sense of dissociation; People with severe cognitive impairment, such as dementia; People who have physical pain, but have not been to a medical specialist to establish what it is. This is because pain is a signal and it would not be a good idea to try to reduce it before we know what it is indicating.

What I like about hypnosis?

Hypnosis is part of a range of approaches that I have studied (see here: About. It is complementary in that it is a gentle technique, respectful of the person’s rhythm, needs and abilities.

Indeed, people who have done talk therapy (where the main modality is verbalisation) sometimes find that understanding what is happening to us and practising new behaviours is not enough, because there are still emotional imprints that prevent us from acting differently and always push us in one direction. Our willpower then becomes powerless.

What is wonderful with hypnosis is that the person is guided to take an additional step at a deeper level than just the rational level, i.e. the one reached with speech, action, will.
